Preventing Distorted PowerPoint Presentations on Your iPad

Have you noticed when you open a PowerPoint presentation on your iPad that animations are lost, fonts go missing and graphics look distorted? To avoid this headache (and embarrassment), download SlideShark, a useful app for viewing and sharing PowerPoint content on your iOS device (iPad, iPhone or iPod touch). Below are step-by-step instructions on how to get started as well as some best practices to follow.

Before you use SlideShark, adjust your PowerPoint content: 

  • Avoid custom fonts in your presentation (they’ll look distorted when viewed on your iPad)  
  • Skip hyperlinks as they don’t work when using SlideShark to view a presentation on your iPad
  • Don’t use slide transitions as they won’t appear; however, animations will

Get started with SlideShark:

Step 1: Create a free SlideShark account

  • Visit: https://www.slideshark.com/register.aspx
  • Get 100 MB of free online storage with this cloud-based app with the option to buy more. (Team editions are available that provide more storage, access to shared content, analytics and more.)

Step 2: Upload a PowerPoint file to your SlideShark account

Step 3: Download the SlideShark app to your iPad

Step 4: Access and show a PowerPoint presentation on your iPad

  • Open  the SlideShark app and log in with your SlideShark credentials  (see step 1)
  • Locate your presentation and tap Download (once you download a presentation, it will always be available)
  • Tap again to play it on your iPad in full-screen mode

  • Swipe up to see all of your slides in thumbnail view or to exit the presentation
  • Tap or swipe left to advance to the next slide
  • Swipe right to go back a slide
